MYRTLE AVENUE APARTMENT RENOVATION

This project (which was featured in the website Curbed's House calls segment) was one of our favorite collaborations with a Client, in this case a graphic designer and screenwriter. The pair had purchased a apartment in an old chocolate factory whose previous owner had installed an imposing black tube steel loft structure that contrasted with the new Owner's softer tastes. Rather than remove the structure our design strategy was to wrap it in painted plywood and round the hard edge into the hallway with a curving wall and stair. To accommodate their prodigious hosting and baking the kitchen was reconfigured for better flow and outfitted with custom cabinetry for their specific needs.
