Art Studio
This Princeton based artist asked us to improve this room in their home and to serve as a new studio for one they had long outgrown. The intention was to leave as much floor space clear for working and teaching and consolidate supplies and materials to the perimeter. The discovery of a set of doors at Material Culture Philadelphia, with impressive relief carving reminiscent of the client’s house, helped generate the design. Cabinetry was built to match the finish of the doors including a wall hanging unit built from doors found in their basement. We caught up with the owner recently, three years after completing the project to see the space in use.
