Park Slope Plant Loft + Office

MDB was drafted to construct this loft by Behrang + Ha Architects in a newly renovated Park Slope brownstone. The loft is built of locally-milled white oak finished with a lye stain and matte finish. The owner plans to populate the platform with bamboo and other tall growing vegetation to fill up the double-height space and capture the light from generous skylights.

We also designed and fabricated a workspace on the top floor landing. A salvage logger for the City of Buffalo supplied us with a beautiful black walnut slab. It floats on custom concealed brackets bolted to the roof hatch ladder. Lacquered cabinets with white oak drawer fronts provide open and closed storage for the owner’s books, files and keepsakes.
